No matter what people tell you,
words and ideas can change the world.
Seriatim aims to improve the quality of interpersonal communication. To do this we work on a broad range of engagements, from pro bono workshops on public speaking for high school students to commercial consulting which makes our non-profit work possible.
From inception in 2009, TEDxWarsaw events have brought together smart people from Poland and beyond to talk about topics ranging from thinking plants to the importance of aiming straight while taking a pee, and pretty much everything in between. Having started in a rather intimate venue with 380 guests, we now regularly welcome a live audience of well over a thousand and many tens of thousands viewers online. In May 2014 we paid a day-long visit to the President of the Republic of Poland with TEDxWarsawPresidentialPalace - the first such event in the World.Non-profit
Public speaking workshops and aligning an organisation's communication goals with its strategic development is what we're best at. This is an ongoing project during which we are helping the organisers of one of the biggest plebiscites in Polish journalism, MediaTory awards in Kraków, to formulate their communication objectives and prepare their speakers to face the public.Non-profit
In May 2014 we were asked to prepare speakers and lead panel meetings for Heineken City Zone, a public discussion forum which operated during the Open'er Festival 2014. Working with a large, diverse and geographically spread-out group, we helped our speakers to communicate their genuine passion combined with a clear message - which is not always easy. The process resulted in high quality talks, an engaged audience and satisfied speakers. We also moderated the panel discussions during the four days of the festival. Given the complexity and logistical pressures, the results were doubly rewarding. Client: Horeca Group.Commercial
Inspirational workshops for orphanage children, combined with systematic follow-up training in selected areas such as music, crafts, computer science and sports. The pilot project is currently taking place in Warsaw and aims to collect best practices in encouraging kids to get involved in different educational activities to develop their hard and soft skills. Our main goal is to convince children who have had a difficult start in life to pursue their dreams.Non-profit
Seriatim was founded by individuals who share a passion for making Poland a better place, and a belief that this can be achieved through teaching people how to communicate ideas effectively. The founders, Julian Kozankiewicz, Maciej Michalski and Ralph Talmont, are involved on a daily basis, offering their experience and extensive networks to the Foundation's benefit.
I'm a hungry person.
Hungry for learning, for challenges, for new experiences and most of all for contributing to projects I believe in. I see the world as a giant, delicious cake that needs to be shared and savoured in all its aspects. A layer of technology, a good spread of art, a garnish of travel and a frosting of inspiration - that's my favourite recipe. I feel fulfilled when my work impacts and helps other people. By the way I'm a foodie, but you have probably guessed that by now.
Mastering public speaking skills is all about these joyous moments of epiphany - silent yet powerful. Sparks of sheer relief and childlike reverie in the eyes of the speaker when you tell them during rehearsals: "There are no hard-and-fast rules of perfection. Feel free to be genuine!" That gasp of admiration, followed by a gust of spontaneous smiles which light up the audience when the speaker's enthusiasm is finally set free and gets just a tad too irresistible to ignore :) For me, public speaking is far more than just words. My duties: workshops.
A few years back I worked with three Germans on a short report. My reponsibilities included the design of our presentation deck, which I happily did. After the presentation one of the listeners walked up to my teammate and shared his profound impression: “Dude, those slides were soooooo German!” That was one of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received. No, not because "Ordnung muss sein", but rather because at that very moment I understood how meaningful my work could be.My duties: new projects.
I deeply care about the people around me and my responsibilities, so please don’t use that against me. One of these long hectic days before a conference, where a Nobel prize winner was supposed to be a keynote, everything started to fall apart. The team, including me, as most Poles would do, started to blame one another vigorously until a smarter person in the room said "let’s start looking for solutions, instead of assigning blame." It struck me like a lightning bolt and I’m grateful it did. From this day I live by this rule. Let’s solve problems and let others worry about the blame, if they wish.My duties: partnerships.
